I am excited to share one of my latest projects, Tracing Mary Ann Shadd Cary’s Footsteps in Mid-19th Century Toronto, a self-guided walking tour that explores some of the history of Black Toronto during the mid-19th century, including Mary Ann Shadd Cary’s connection to and time in the city. It features people who interacted with one another, organized together, crossed paths, existed and lived in the same space.

The tour is available on the Balado Discovery app:

The tour is great for interested individuals, class and school groups, and tourists to the city.

Take a picture at the MASC plaque and post on social media using the hashtag #BlackToronto

Resources to learn more about MASC are listed in the previous blogpost and materials to learn and teach about Canada’s Black history are compiled on my website.
